The Wisconsin examinations are open book, and the DSPS exam pages still name the 2017 National Electrical Code. DSPS expects its exam updates to be completed by 1 October 2026. The field code, SPS 316, went to the 2023 edition on 1 September 2026 under CR 26-016. This page holds no table values, but the sections it names are the 2026 numbers.
The article level moves are concentrated at the two ends of the book: Chapter 1 took in load calculations from Article 220 and energy management from Article 750, and the limited energy and communications material was rebuilt across the 720s. Ampacity, overcurrent, grounding, motors and boxes kept their articles, and Chapter 9 is still the tables. What we hold on the moves compares the 2026 edition with the 2023 one, and the record does not reach a 2017 book, so it cannot tell you what any of these numbers is in the edition the Wisconsin exam tests on today. Look each one up in your own copy.
What it does

How much three questions can tell you
Three items to an area is enough to rank the eight areas against each other and not enough to grade any one of them. An area you genuinely know 70 percent of comes back at one right out of three, or none, about one run in five, on the draw alone. Read the order first and the number second.
The overall figure carries roughly 9 points of sampling error on 24 items, so treat 65 and 74 as the same result.
What it is not
It is not a prediction of your exam result and it is not scored the way you will be scored. The Wisconsin electrician examinations are open book, allow four hours of seat time and are passed at 70 percent, and DSPS publishes no question count for any of them. This is 24 questions written for this site and arranged three to an area so that the areas can be compared.
It is not weighted like the exam either, and that is the point of it. 15 of these 24 items sit in the calculation areas. The real paper allows four hours of seat time, and DSPS publishes no question count. Equal weight per area is what makes the comparison between areas fair, and it is also what stops the overall figure from standing in for an exam score.
The line across each meter marks 70 percent, which is the grade every part of a Wisconsin trades examination is passed at. It is there so an area is read against something. It is not a verdict on these 24 questions.

The marks go on the order of operations rather than the lookup. Correction and adjustment both apply and they multiply, and a termination rating can cap a figure you worked out correctly.

Load calculations
A load calculation is long, and a long calculation fails at the step you skipped rather than the step you got wrong. Work the same sequence every time until it is boring.
