Wisconsin reads two books right now

The Wisconsin examinations are open book, and the DSPS exam pages still name the 2017 National Electrical Code. DSPS expects its exam updates to be completed by 1 October 2026. The field code, SPS 316, went to the 2023 edition on 1 September 2026 under CR 26-016. This page holds no table values, but the sections it names are the 2026 numbers.

The article level moves are concentrated at the two ends of the book: Chapter 1 took in load calculations from Article 220 and energy management from Article 750, and the limited energy and communications material was rebuilt across the 720s. Ampacity, overcurrent, grounding, motors and boxes kept their articles, and Chapter 9 is still the tables. What we hold on the moves compares the 2026 edition with the 2023 one, and the record does not reach a 2017 book, so it cannot tell you what any of these numbers is in the edition the Wisconsin exam tests on today. Look each one up in your own copy.

Before you start

Have your code book open. Every question here is answerable with it, and working without it trains a skill you will not use in the exam room.

Questions supply any looked-up value as given data. What is being tested is the method, which is where the marks actually go.

Exam simulation uses this site's own mix, roughly seven knowledge questions to every three calculations, and clocks you at the pace the Wisconsin paper sets. It withholds every answer until you submit, the way the real one does, and gives you a review screen first. Practice deliberately leans the other way, toward the calculation questions, because those are the slowest ones to work. It explains each question the moment you answer it.

The field code, SPS 316, went to the 2023 edition on 1 September 2026, so for one month the book you work to and the book you test on are different.
